Pre-production work

I've used a stock image of a pose I want my models to do in the photoshoot and used photoshop to edit in some fonts I like the look at.  This has given me the ability to see what kind of fonts I like and which ones don't work
From this I have discovered that lowercase masthead's don't work for this as they just seem lost in the photo, it also needs to be one that's very bold and stands out with not too much going on around it but enough that it's not boring
My favourite font is the font in the last printscreen but it's still not quite right, I don't want my masthead to appear raised from the page which this does
Doing this has also helped me to know that I want my masthead in the top left hand corner and that I want it to be landscape, I tried it portrait (rotated 90 degrees) but it didn't look right

Photoshoot pose inspiration

I really like this pose, it shows that the two people are connected in some way, whilst still being quite an edgy pose.  The low angle makes us look up to the models as if they're real rockstars who the reader idolises.
The full body shot gives enough space in the background for cover lines

Piktochart has helped me to create lots of charts and present information in a professional way

Skills Development - Thinglink

Thinglink

During the coursework I have learnt how to use thinglink
This piece of software enables me to add notes, a link or an image to a picture
Thinglink has helped me when I've needed to post lots of notes but needed to do it in a professional manner

Planning and Research

My main competition is NME and Q Magazine, I have researched their best front covers, interviews, double page spreads and contents pages to better educate myself and make my magazine better.

Resources:
NME magazine

http://www.nme.com/nme-video/search/interview
http://www.nme.com/nme-video/the-maccabees-who-they-would-nominate-for-the-nme-/4594641966001
I found that NME interview people in a very casual way like on a sofa etc which I like, they use very casual language too which just makes it all more relaxed

Q magazine

http://digitizedgraffiti.com/2011/11/26/15-of-the-very-best-q-interviews/
Q interviews are much more informative and formal, I'm not so keen on this style as it seems too forced.  In the interview with Moby, the first 1 minute and 28 seconds were spent with the interviewer talking about the interviewee's past which went on a bit too long.  Despite how formal it was, Moby answered the questions very naturally with an 'erm' or 'like' every minute or so which shows that a more casual approach is the way forward, and the way I intend to do my interview
