Font Practice
I decided to use 'Lazy Sans' as it's sans serif making it look modern, but it's a little wonky and has lines to make it appear different and messier
Skills Development
I decided to use DaFont to design my masthead, the website has so many fonts to choose from and although it took a while to find the right one, I'm very happy with this.
I then used photoshop to change the colour of the text to match my house style colours of black, white and grey.

“Not so sure on the logo, it looks too bold”
“The ‘Next Chapter’ bit doesn’t look right, maybe try a different font?”
“I agree, the colour of the AMP is good but it looks too dark with the black at the back”
“The quote used isn’t very obvious that it’s from ‘Next Chapter’

I’ve now changed the masthead to red and put more black in, I feel like this would be better suited to a punk-rock genre of magazine instead of alt-rock so I won’t be using this colour scheme

I’ve responded to the feedback from my peers, I trust their judgement
as they’re editing magazines too and have done their research just like I have.
I have cleared up the messy layout making it easier to look at, removed the messy border with the different colour greys and added more grey in but of the same colour
I have kept the blue in for now but I’m going to use photoshop to see what it looks like with red which is a more rocky colour

Feedback from peers:
Star- I really like the image, it looks really professional
Wish – The grey in the top corner and behind the text are
different and it’s noticeable, they should be the same colour
Star – I like the white space at the bottom
Wish – on the left hand side the white space doesn’t look
right, it either needs to be fully white or fully grey
S – Good quality image
W – The layout is very messy and I don’t know where to look
Star – I like the grey white and black colours
Wish – I’m not sure if the light blue works with the genre
of the magazine

I have now used photoshop to see how the masthead looks on the cover photo.
It really stands out and I'm pleased with how it looks
Construction
The top picture is the original image that I took for my front cover
In the bottom picture I have used photoshop to make the background black and white, keeping the models in colour. I put two layers on, the colour image, and the same image in black and white. I used the eraser tool to rub out the black and white where the models are revealing the colour from underneath.
This technique has made the models stand out to be the focal point
